On gers and flat tires

I forgot to put this in teh big life update, but I think it deserves it’s own mention. Last week I decided to finally drag my butt down to the Bloomington Tibetan/Mongolian Cultural Center (whence the previous picture came), since the weather was wonderfully cool and I just wanted to ride my bike somewhere far but not too far. It was pretty cool, and I even had my first kinda-serious bike mishap, a run-in with a big rusty nail and a flat tire three miles from home. Also, when you google “wtf is mumble?”, this blog is the very second result. I think that’s my highest google number yet. The number for my name is 14 (but my flickr and twitter come in at one and four, respectively).

    [...] A couple of firsts today: the first real, rainy test of my fenders reveals that they do indeed keep the water off of you, as advertised.  They do not, however, appear to magically ward off flats, resulting in my first flat as a Bicycle Commuter.  The aforementioned tire event occurred in the middle of the fucking woods, but at least now I live in a place with public transportation, unlike that time in Indiana with the big rusty nail.
